On July 2016, the Women LEAD family mourned the heartbreaking loss of 2012 LEADer Sujata Baskota. To honor the memory of Sujata, Women LEAD announced the Sujata Baskota Changemaker Awards in 2016. The annual award is granted to an alumni-led social change project.

Since 2016, Sujata has inspired 31 young women to run 9 community projects addressing access to education, sexual and reproductive health rights, and gender-based violence, and reaching 1,776 women and children in 3 Provinces in Nepal.
